Fresh, Hip, and Animal Friendly

COK’s Veg Ads Debut in Teen Magazines

Flipping through a teen magazine, we see ad after glossy ad for make-up, movies, and the latest looks. Marketers know young women are interested in what’s hot (and what’s not), so they target this demographic with splashy ads in their favorite magazines to create a buzz.

And news articles and social research surveys tell us that young women are most receptive to animal issues and most likely to become vegetarian. According to Teenage Research Unlimited, one in four teens thinks being vegetarian is “cool” and 400,000 13- to 17-year-olds consider themselves to be vegetarian.

As young women are generally more concerned with the ethical treatment of animals and studies show they will become primary household food shoppers in their later years, appealing to teen girls and young women is likely to help increasing numbers of animals.

We’re using what marketers and social scientists already know to the animals’ advantage. We’re helping to make compassion for animals fashionable. To popularize vegetarian eating with young people, COK has launched the youth-focused arm of our vegetarian ad campaign.

Full-page, eye-catching ads are appearing in magazines and campus newspapers, encouraging readers to request their free copies of our Vegetarian Starter Guide. Ordering is made easy by visiting TryVeg.com or calling 1-866-MEAT-FREE (a toll-free number!).
