Celebrate with Compassion Over Killing by hosting an outreach event in your community.
The National Hot Dog and Sausage Council has declared July as National Hot Dog Month, so, for the fifth year in a row, Compassion Over Killing is celebrating with a compassionate twist: National Veggie Hot Dog Month!!
This July, while our nation celebrates its independence, we need your help in exposing the miseries forced upon tens of millions of pigs confined inside factory farms across the U.S. each year—from mother pigs crammed in narrow metal crates for months on end to their piglets who are taken away within weeks of birth and kept in barren, overcrowded pens until they are shipped to slaughter.
Please help us reach out to others letting them know how easy and delicious it can be to choose animal-friendly foods!
Put Your Compassion into Action: Host a National Veggie Hot Dog Month Event!
Not sure how to get started? In years past people have hosted backyard barbeques, feed-ins, office lunches, and veggie hot dog eating contests. For more ideas and inspiration, see photos from National Veggie Hot Dog Day in 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009.
Here are some other ideas to get you started:
Let us know about your event: If you plan on hosting an event any time during the month of July, please let us know. We’d be happy to help advertise it on our site as well as answer any questions about organizing a feed-in—and we can even send you a action pack, filled with materials, including free pro-vegetarian literature and coupons for veggie hot dogs —courtesy of Lightlife Foods! Please get started using our sign-up form.
Organize a Veggie Dog Feed-In: One of the best ways to encourage others to explore vegetarian eating is to give away free samples of delicious meat-free foods. Our step by step how-to guide demonstrates how easy it is to host a successful veggie dog feed-in.
Thank you to Lightlife Foods for sponsoring National Veggie Hot Dog Month for the third year in a row!
