January 15-16: Thousands Get Pro-Veg Materials at NBC4 Health and Fitness Expo
On the weekend of Jan. 15-16, Compassion Over Killing joined hundreds of other organizations at the annual NBC4 Health and Fitness Expo at the Washington, DC Convention Center. Thanks to over a dozen dedicated volunteers, we distributed nearly 6,000 pieces of pro-veg literature as well as dished out nearly 400 samples of vegan peanut butter rice crispy treats and almond milk. People of all ages were eager to give the vegan food a try and even more people eagerly grabbed a free copy of our Easy Vegan Recipes and Vegetarian Guide to DC and Surrounding Areas.
Our volunteers engaged inquisitive attendees with their personal vegetarian eating experiences, debunking myths about plant-based foods and nutrition, and sharing information about the many wonderful benefits of choosing meat-free foods. The positive feedback from attendees was inspiring as several people expressed a sincere interest in exploring vegetarian foods and others even told us that after receiving our literature last year, they are now healthy and happy vegetarians!
Many thanks to everyone who helped make this event a tremendous success!
