COK Celebrates National Veggie Hot Dog Month in Los Angeles (July 17, 2010)
On Sat., July 17 several Compassion Over Killing volunteers gathered at the Santa Monica Beach Pier in Los Angeles, CA to spread a message of compassion by handing out free veggie hot dogs in honor of National Veggie Hot Dog Month! We dished out one hundred veggie hot dogs to sun-kissed beach-goers along with COK’s pro-veg literature including our Vegetarian Starter Guide, Eating Sustainably brochure, and Easy Vegan Recipes booklets. Residents of the City of Angels were delighted to receive free food and were pleasantly surprised to find out the hot dogs were animal-friendly!
Special thanks to Jaya Bhumitra, COK's Volunteer Outreach Coordinator, who led this effort as part of Los Angeles VegWeek, a week-long celebration highlighting the benefits of vegetarian eating , and thanks to VegFund for helping make this vegan feed-in possible!
