Ask-A-Vegan Tabling (July 8, 2010)
On Thursday, July 8, Compassion Over Killing's summer outreach interns hosted another successful event in honor of National Veggie Hot Dog Month: Ask-A-Vegan tabling! Ask-A-Vegan is a new program launched by VegFund that encourages animal advocates to set up a table inside a grocery store and serve free samples of vegan food items that are available for purchase inside the store. COK set up our table at the Takoma Park Co-Op and dished out more than 200 samples of free Field Roast and Tofurky sausages.
As they sampled these savory "sausages", customers were also given copies of our newly updated Vegetarian Guide to DC and Surrounding Areas and our Pork: Another Cruel Meat flyers. Many people who were skeptical about meat-free products were amazed by the flavorful sausages and scurried to the freezers to bring their newly-discovered cruelty-free foods home with them!
Thank you to our amazing interns for setting up this great event and to VegFund for supporting it!
