Tabling at the Capital Pride Street Festival (June 13, 2010)
On Sunday, June 13, COK and over a dozen volunteers tabled at D.C.'s annual Capital Pride Street Festival, spreading a message of compassion to tens of thousands of people with our prominently displayed TryVeg.com banner. During this popular day-long event, we distributed over 3,000 pieces of pro-veg literature, collected more than 130 signatures for our Dunkin' Cruelty comment cards and gave away over 600 samples of vegan food including Primal Strips and vegan ice cream! Our booth was such a hit, long lines were forming for the free vegan samples and the news spread fast— even hours after the food had been devoured, people kept coming to our table in search of our delicious vegan treats.
One COK volunteer said that this year's Capital Pride festival was most receptive and effective outreach event he's ever attended—with each pro-veg booklet he handed out, people were genuinely appreciative of the information and many stopped to ask questions as they were eager to learn more about the benefits of vegetarian eating!
We couldn't have reached this open-minded crowd without the help of our volunteers—thank you!
