April 24: Maryland VegWeek Kick-Off Party!
After a successful Takoma Park VegWeek in 2009, Compassion Over Killing expanded our efforts in 2010 by launching Maryland VegWeek from April 24-30! The week-long celebration got off to a strong start with a kick-off party featuring several special guests: Congresswoman Donna Edwards, Sen. Jamie Raskin, Del. Tom Hucker, Del. Jim Gilchrist, and Mont. Co. Council Vice-President Valerie Ervin—all of whom signed our pledge to go veg for one week. In addition to receiving a Mayoral Proclamation from Takoma Park on April 19, at this event Councilmember Ervin presented COK with a Montgomery County Proclamation, officially declaring April 24-30, 2010 as Maryland VegWeek.
Below are some photos from the kick-off party, and more details are available at MarylandVegWeek.com
