Earth Day Feed-In at Dupont Circle (April 22, 2010)
On April 22, 2010, Compassion Over Killing took to the streets to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Earth Day by giving out free samples of vegan food. Several volunteers and staff members hosted a vegan feed-in during the lunch rush in Dupont Circle, dishing out over 100 pieces of vegan orange “chicken” as well as sharing hundreds of copies of our pro-vegetarian literature, including our Eating Sustainably pamphlet, to passersby.
The free samples of vegan orange “chicken” were a hit, even with a few skeptical passersby. During the event, one man was dared by his friends to try a piece. Upon discovering how tasty this meatless treat was, his friends soon followed. After they all tried the orange “chicken,” everyone asked for copies of our pro-vegetarian literature.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this feed-in a success!
