Feed-In on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (January 18, 2010)
In celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, over 10 Compassion Over Killing volunteers hosted a very successful feed-in near the Dupont Circle Metro station on Monday, January 18, 2010. Promoting a message of compassion, volunteers dished out free samples of homemade vegan chili and pro-vegetarian literature to passersby in the circle. The chili was so popular that the entire pot was gone within the first 30 minutes of the feed-in!
From grandparents to children, the crowd was ecstatic for the vegan chili. Several people walked by at first, only to turn around after a few feet when they smelled the chili. One woman enjoyed the chili so much that she was ready to change her current chili recipe to our vegan one!
Thank you so much to everyone who helped with the feed-in. It wouldn’t have been a success without you!
Many of our volunteers on Monday had never hosted a feed-in before. We'd love for you to join our next feed-in or leafleting event, whether or not you've volunteered before! If you'd like to get involved, please send us an email at info@cok.net.
