Feed-In for National Veggie Hot Dog Month (July 13, 2009)

On July 13, 2009, in honor of National Veggie Hot Dog Month, Compassion Over Killing hosted a feed-in before the Jonas Brothers concert at the Verizon Center in downtown D.C. We dished out delicious veggie dogs and distributed our pro-vegetarian literature, including our Easy Vegan Recipes, Vegetarian Starter Guide, and Pork: Another Cruel Meat flyer as the young crowd lined up outside the venue. Handing out over 200 free vegan food samples and nearly 1,000 pieces of literature in just one hour, our volunteers were able to reach out to many of the young fans letting them know that we can stand up for animals every time we sit down to eat.

Several mothers of these young concert-goers commented that their sons or daughters had been thinking about going vegetarian, and said our literature was perfect for helping them make the switch!

Thanks to all of our volunteers who helped make the feed-in a huge success!

Holding the banner attracted people to our free food samples.
Commuters and fans were excited to try the veggie dogs!
