Nutrition Lecture with Dr. Greger in Burke, VA. (May 12, 2009)
On Tuesday, May 12, 2009, COK hosted a special nutrition event at the Burke Library featuring Dr. Michael Greger from The Humane Society of the United States. Dr. Greger shared the latest in peer-reviewed research to show that the healthiest diet is also the most humane. Using a quiz-show format, he kept the audience entertained while also educating them about the benefits of a plant-based diet. Over 50 people came to the lecture and enjoyed a free vegan meal. Community members, a local boot camp workout group, and even COK's own intern were surprised to discover how some of their favorite foods stacked up on the nutrition scale.
Below are a few photos from the event.
