April 24, 2009: Takoma Park Veg Week Kick-Off Party!

After working with Compassion Over Killing, Takoma Park Mayor Bruce Williams signed a Proclamation officially declaring April 24 to 30, 2009 as the first-ever Takoma Park Veg Week! The week-long celebration got underway with a kick-off party with more than 80 people, including special guests Sen. Jamie Raskin and Del. Tom Hucker, both of whom signed our Pledge to Go Veg for One Week and are encouraging others to do the same. Several area businesses are participating in Veg Week by offering more vegetarian options or discounts on current animal-free menu items.
