April 22, 2009: Feed-in at Dupont Circle in downtown D.C.
In honor of Earth Day, COK hosted a feed-in at Dupont Circle in downtown D.C. on Wed., April 22, 2009. Passersby sampled orange “chicken” and received, among other pro-vegetarian literature, our Eating Sustainably pamphlet, which highlights the connection between our food choices and our burden on the environment.
Conveniently, Bread & Brew, a local restaurant right around the corner, was celebrating Earth Day with an all-vegan menu, so we directed several people there to see how easy and delicious it is to be veg! It also happened to be a COK benefit day.
During the feed-in, a young man who read our Eating Sustainably brochure came back and asked for a copy of all of our literature, including the Vegetarian Starter Guide. He said he’d been contemplating going vegetarian based on his concern for the environment and animals, and commented, “This is exactly what I needed!”
Thank you to everyone who helped with this successful event!
