Tabling at the Green Festival in D.C., November 8-9, 2008

On the weekend of November 8th, over a dozen COK volunteers and staff members tabled at D.C.'s 5th annual Green Festival, the nation's largest green consumer living event. The crowd was filled with tens of thousands of environmentally-conscience attendees, many of whom were eager to learn more about factory farming cruelties and how their dietary choices impact the planet and all of its inhabitants. Our battery cage display intrigued countless passersby who stopped to ask questions, and over the course of the weekend, we collected hundreds of letters to the FDA in support for COK’s rule-making petition to mandate truth in labeling on egg cartons.

In addition, our volunteers distributed more than 1,800 copies of COK's Vegetarian Starter Guide, Easy Vegan Recipes, Eating Sustainably, and Vegetarian Guide to Washington, D.C. and Surrounding Areas to festival-goers. All in all, it was an incredibly successful event!

Below are photos from the weekend.

Thank you to all of our volunteers who helped us spread the animals’ message!

A battery cage at the table highlighted the inhumane treatment of egg-laying hens.
With a TryVeg.com banner as our backdrop, volunteers answered lots of questions on how to transition to a compassionate diet.
People were happy to voice their concerns by writing a letter to the FDA—signed letters were collected inside the cage.
