Thanks for the editorial "Just say 'Whoa!'" (March 31), which opposed state Rep. Jim Viebrock's shameful efforts to legalize the slaughter of horses for human consumption and restrict citizen-driven ballot initiatives.

The Missouri Senate should reject House Bill 1747. Mr. Viebrock's views on the treatment of animals and on the involvement of citizens in their government are well outside the mainstream. His constituents deserve better.
