Eating vegan in Athens realistic lifestyle for all
The Red and Black
February 15, 2010
As a long-time vegan, I was delighted to see an article highlighting the debate “Is Eating Meat Desirable?” published Monday, Feb. 14th. When I attended UGA, I found that many of my friends had great misconceptions on why people choose to not eat animals — this debate is a great opportunity to showcase the benefits of a vegetarian diet.
More than 10 billion birds, pigs, and cows are raised and killed to put food on our plates every year. Farmed animals are subjected to routine cruelties, including intensive confinement and mutilations without anesthesia, and most never set foot outside.
Thankfully, it’s incredibly easy to go vegan in Athens. From the Grit to Taco Stand, you can find delicious, animal-friendly food everywhere. For more information, check out TryVeg.com.
