Why Children Turn to Vegetarianism

Washington Post
September 8, 2009

It's no surprise that children are among the growing number of Americans choosing more vegetarian and vegan foods ["For Some, Veggies Are the Main Course," KidsPost, Sept. 2].

Children have a well-defined sense of right and wrong. Less likely than adults to rationalize unjust practices, they are more likely to make the connection that can spur them to ask the question, "Why do I call some animals 'pets' and other animals 'dinner'?"
