Options to Meat

Greenwich Time
February 23, 2009

To the editor:

Thank you for Ronnie Fein's Feb. 18 article, "Vegetarian meals to sink your teeth into." It's true that leaving meat off our plates doesn't mean skimping on flavor. Rather, it simply means choosing the cruelty-free versions of our favorite foods. And switching to veggie burgers, soy hot dogs, "chicken" nuggets and other meatless options is one of the best steps each of us can take to protect our health, the environment and animals.

We can be thankful that grocery stores and restaurants everywhere are responding to the growing demand for meat-free fare, making it easier than ever to make the next meal a vegetarian one.
