Kudos to Takoma Park council for stand on foie gras, #2

Gazette
July 9, 2008

I’m proud to live in a city with a City Council that considers taking a stand against animal cruelty a good use of time and passes a resolution opposing foie gras.

As it takes more land, water and energy to produce meat than it does to grow foods for a vegetarian diet, and as the average American does more to reduce global warming emissions by not eating animal products than by switching to a hybrid car, City Council could satisfy both those constituents who felt the council should have spent their energy on environmental issues as well as those opposed to animal cruelty by passing a resolution opposing all animal products.
