Veggie Options Applauded

Thank you for your article, "School lunches to offer more veggie, soy options" (Jan. 9 School News). It is encouraging to read that the Montgomery County Public School system is offering healthy and humane options for our children.

Students have very little choice when it comes to eating healthy and conscientiously in our schools. Young people are becoming more aware of how vegetarian eating promotes healthy living as well as environmental and animal-friendly practices, and they are showing us that they want to act on this knowledge.

I applaud MCPS for giving today's youth the opportunity to make responsible choices.
