Dine on a Tofurky Instead

As a longtime vegetarian, I enjoyed reading Rose Panieri’s Nov. 17 article “Vegetarians help save turkeys on Thanksgiving.”

Turkeys are social and inquisitive birds. Yet on today’s factory farms, from the moment they’re hatched, turkeys are forced to endure conditions so cruel, it would lead to prosecution if those same abuses were inflicted upon the cats and dogs with whom we share their homes.

Thanksgiving tradition is about celebrating life, and millions of Americans are doing so by leaving turkeys off their plates—and carving into a vegetarian tofurky instead. For more information, including great tips to help create a compassionate vegetarian feast that everyone, including the turkeys can be thankful for, visit tryveg.com.
