Animal-Free Diets Save Lives as well as the Environment

I enjoyed your article "The Best Way We Could Battle Global Warming Is Stop Consuming Animals," (AC-T, April 2), by Terry David. It's true that a diet void of animal products benefits the environment and human health, but it also benefits the animals. Animals raised for food in the U.S. are forced to spend their lives in horrendously abusive conditions and are then violently killed simply to satisfy our taste buds. Vegetarian eating is the healthy, environmentally sound, and compassionate choice.

Luckily, it's easier now than ever to find delicious vegetarian foods at local groceries and restaurants.
