Dorn Right on Cage-free Eggs
Thank you for Brittany Dorn's Feb. 15 article about the new cage-free egg program
being implemented by UConn's dining service ("Cage-free Eggs Added To Whitney
Dining Hall Menu"). Experts agree that wire battery cages, in which nearly
300 million laying hens are intensively confined in the U.S., deprive birds
of many of their most basic needs-battery hens are afforded such meager living
space, they can't even flap their wings, let alone preen, roost, or build nests.
As a former animal control officer in our nation's capital, I am certain that
similar treatment of dogs or cats would warrant charges of cruelty to animals.

a typical battery cage egg farm, visit EggScam.com.
