Re: “Mom, I'm a vegetarian,” Jan. 30.

Kudos to 17-year-old Carla Hills regarding her compassionate choice to become a vegetarian. More people are refraining from consuming animal products once they become aware of the immense suffering the animals must endure.

If more people were willing to view the same “gross pictures and videos” Hills saw, which reveal the grim reality of how cows (and other animals) are raised and slaughtered, the number of people switching to a vegetarian diet would no doubt rise substantially.
