Dear President Park:
I am in receipt of your letter dated November 20, 2002 concerning the treatment of animals at Red Bird Egg Farms.
The initial investigation into your complaint was handled by Det./Cpl. Glenn Owens. Pursuant to his investigation, Det./Cpl. Owens contacted the Department of Agriculture for the State of Maryland and spoke with Program Manager, Deanna L. Baldwin. Det./Cpl. Owens received a written response from Ms. Baldwin and her response in being forwarded along with this letter.
Det./Cpl. Owens believes this is more of a regulatory issue rather than a criminal issue, and I concur with his belief.
I have spoken directly with Kent County State’s Attorney Robert H. Strong. It is my understanding Mr. Strong will also be forwarding a response to your letter.
If I can be of further assistance, please give me a call.
Very truly yours,
D/Sgt. Scott N. Metzbower
