vegaustin-bestof2011-240x249.jpgCompassion Over Killing is thrilled to announce that our popular website, VegAustin.com, just received a Best of Austin 2011 award! Our veg-friendly online dining guide was named “Best Virtual Veggies” by the Austin Chronicle — and we share this honor with the good folks at The Vegetarian Network of Austin.

Launched in 2007, VegAustin.com highlights just how easy it is to find veg-friendly foods in and around ATX. In addition to listing dozens of restaurants, grocery stores, caterers, and bakeries dishing out delicious meat-free options, the website features local events, news, and other helpful resources. You can even request a free printed Vegetarian Guide to Austin to carry with you wherever you go.

Of course, in addition to managing this award-winning “Virtual Veggie” resource, we love to have some offline fun, too!

We’ll be there, along with other veggie loving Austinites to distribrute pro-veg literature as well as sample tons of tasty vegan chili!

Held in Round Rock at Settler’s Park, the Lone Star Vegetarian Chili Cook-Off draws in thousands of people including over 20 teams competing for meat-free glory. Plus there’s live music, speakers, door prizes and giveaways. Tickets to taste all of the chilis are $8 for adults and $4 for children.
