Position: Communications Coordinator
Position Objective: To use effective communication skills, largely focusing on writing projects, furthering the organization’s mission to expose farmed animal abuse and promote vegetarian eating.
Terms of Employment: Full-time with benefits.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
- Write letters and op-eds for publication
- Coordinate or assist with a variety of writing projects including, but not limited to:
- Web features and blogs
- eNewsletters
- Press releases
- Member magazine
- Literature (brochures, veg-friendly dining guides, etc)
- Development materials (reports, grant proposal, acquisition mailings)
- Research related to writing or other communication-related projects
- Assist with pitching stories/op-eds to the media.
- Expand/maintain media database and media logs.
- Assist with coordinating/creating advertising or social media campaigns/initiatives
- Assist with office communications (answering phones, replying to general email inquiries, etc)
- Participate as needed in local/regional outreach events such as feed-ins, leafleting, and tabling
- Coordinate or assist with other projects/campaigns as determined.

- Knowledgeable about vegetarian and factory-farming issues.

- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to develop and apply strategic communications plans.
- Knowledge of AP style grammar preferred.

Position: Web Developer
Terms of Employment: Full-time with benefits.
Position Objective: To oversee Compassion Over Killing's online presences and
provide staff with user-friendly advocacy tools. Major projects will include
facilitating the migration of multiple legacy websites to the Drupal CMS, assisting
with the consolidation of constituent data into a single CRM, and identifying/optimizing
integration points between the CRM and CMS.
Position Details: The ideal candidate will be able to communicate with
both end users and developers. In addition to leading in-house development of Compassion
Over Killing's websites, the Web Developer will liaise with consultants
and/or skilled volunteers on select projects. In some cases this may involve working collaboratively. In
other cases it may involve project management, oversight, and quality control. The Web
Developer will also be tasked with eliciting business
requirements from the staff, translating these into technical requirements,
producing RFPs, and reviewing proposals.
At this time, the IT Manager will not be expected to
supervise any staff.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

Lead migration of select sites to the Drupal CMS with an emphasis on
staff-maintainability, either directly or as a liaison with a
vendor.

Assist with migration of constituent data into a single CRM, either
directly or as a liaison with a vendor. At minimum, this will require
writing queries to extract desired data and some scripting to merge
duplicate records.

Maintain legacy PHP/MySQL web applications.

Develop strategies for driving traffic to websites, including
search engine optimization.

Maintain relevant documentation.
Qualifications:

Familiarity with JavaScript, preferably the jQuery library
